Youtopia

This is so cool! Check out Backyard Paradises.

Then, open a new comment on this blog. In one sentence, respond (good or bad) to the backyard utopia that most interested you.

After doing this research, I want you to think about what your version of a utopian SCHOOL would be. BNW focuses on a utopian society, Backyard Paradises focuses on utopian outdoor spaces...I want you to create a utopian school. I am very serious about this. What would it look like physically? What would the schedule be like? Who would attend? How would people learn and grow? How would the different grades interact with each other? Would students be graded? What special events would occur? What would be part of the daily schedule? You are welcome to answer all or none of these questions, but you must get specific, creative, and intentional with your description. Help us SEE this school and understand WHY it is structured the way it is.

These posts are due by the end of the period.

Structure: Begin with a one sentence quote (and yes, put it in quotation marks) that captures your vision. Then describe and explain your utopia.

My non-honors sections will vote on the honors descriptions; my honors sections will vote on the non-honors. The winning students (one honors and one non-honors) will earn 10 Bonus points on their BNW Test, get first pick on which day they would like to present their research paper topic, AND get a one-day extension on their research paper. Awesome!

Everyone will earn 10/10 points for completing this.

Meeting Tuesday-Friday the perfect Utopian School would go from 9am-3pm each day. You're own focus of study would be evaluated by surveys. What you want to do, will be heard. Drama, sports, dance, art; you name it! Instead of preparing you for college, we start slow in preparing you for life. Learning how do deal with real life matters whether it comes to the real housewives or learning how to build a house.

This school would have a open campus. It would be solar powered and laptops would not be needed. They would be provided if necessary in a public computer lab. This stress free environment would help kids not only become who they wanted to be, but also make it possible for knowing what they absolutely love to do.
The atmosphere would encourage others to be respectful and encouraging of their own decisions.

Instead of busy work like worksheets and text books, papers and projects would be presented after a unit or full lesson of teaching. For instance, if an athlete wanted to take a course on the human body and how to take care of themselves during an athletic season, after the Unit: Hydration, a student would either write a paper or do a project for four days and journal about it. The main busy work during class would be taking notes on the board.
This perfect Utopian School would work on speaking publicly and working on getting your voice heard through class discussion.

Uniforms would not be necessary but your apparel would hopefully be appropriate for your age and conservativeness.

This school is a great opportunity to see life through your own eyes and your own aspirations.

  2. Paradise Garden. The creator made every work of art from the things in his mind that interested him the most, what he believed in, and the things he wanted to be surrounded by.
    Utopian School:
"An environment where reality is better than my dreams." The campus would be very much shaped like Baylor's. Students would have to create their own schedule. This allows students to be with their friends and have study halls whenever they're needed. One class of science, math, english, and history would be taken per week. For example: math-monday, science-tuesday,english-wednesday, history- thursday. and you choose which day you want to take each class. Classes would be 1 hour long with a ten minutes break at 30 minutes. We would be able to each have our own golf cart to go from class to assembly, to lunch, to afternoon activities, or just for fun to race of ride around in during activity periods. Our schedule would look like this: breakfast provided from 9-10. at 10:10 your only class for the day would begin. 10:40 the ten minutes break to do whatever you please.11:10 the class would end and we all would gather in assembly to be entertained with very few announcements. Right after assembly finishes at 11:40 we would have lunch until 12:30. 12:30-1:00 is help class. Help class is when you receive extra help form that days class teacher on material you didn't understand. Then you would have afternoon activities such as theater, sports, and workouts. This would be a co-ed school. Since only four classes are required per week, we would have three-day weekend. Instead of the 2-day weekend we have now. Water fountains on campus could squirt out any drink you want. Just type in the drink name and press enter and it would come out. Social events would be run by the students and no teachers are allowed to come to social events.

  3. Watts Towers: The towers are beautiful because they are built with recycled materials like colored glass, broken tiles, and sea shells.

"The school focuses solely on thinking. We do not need Google because we have our own Google in our brains."

The perfect school will teach kids to use their brains instead of a calculator or a computer. Unless a calculator is necessary in a math probem, it is not allowed. Neither are computers. The kids have to form their own ideas and opionons instead of reaching for the computer and searching on Google. They will learn to not rely on technology. There will be a lot of time to think, relax, and empty their minds of the stress from the long school day. The kids will take computer classes and know how to use the computer, but they still have cannot use it instead of their brain. Classes are an hour long and each class has 10 minutes to sit quielty and relax. The classes all have couches, pillows, bean bags, and also some tables in case students like tables better. They have the option to be comfortable or to be at a table. The classes have big windows and the walls are decorated in relaxing colors like green and blue. Each student has a free period at one time during their day, but they have to working on something. They cannot be on the computer, especially Facebook. Also, while they do their homework at home, Facebook or the computer in general is blocked until they finish their work. The school has a uniform but it is a comfortable t-shirt and shorts or pants in the winter. Our school is meant to be a place to relax and enjoy learning instead stressful, technology filled days.

  4. Palais Ideál: It is interesting that the postman collected bits of his utopia daily to finally have one in the end.

"Behind every genius, is a little bit of fun on the inside."

Imagine the Opryland hotel as your school and in each classroom every student, only high schoolers, has an iPad. There would be a library with any book that you would need and tutors to help 24 hours of the day. Free, refilled daily, vending machines would be located on each floor in every building along with a comfy couches,La-Z-Boy chairs and flat screen TVs. Each student would pick her own schedule. She would not have to be at school if she did not have a class. If the student has a C- or lower in any of her class she would be required to visit tutors daily to get help on class assignments and study for upcoming test or quizzes. She would be required to get help because if she wants to enjoy the benefits that her campus offers, she needs to prove academically that she deserves to be on the campus. To be accepted into Utopia U a student is required to take an admissions test to make sure that she is intelligent and she also must have an interview to show that she has people skills. The students would be required to wear a uniform Monday through Thursday and allowed to wear civilian clothes every Friday if they wish. Every Friday afternoon after each students has taken their classes, there will be a party held in the gym with the latest music and dance moves to celebrate their hard work doing the week. If a student was required to go to tutoring any time that week, then they will not be allowed to go to the party. Top teachers are brought in from around the world to teach 60 minute classes. The students expect the best out of their teachers and they teachers expect the same in return.

  5. Bottle Village: It started as a wall made of beer bottles, but it slowly became a work of art. incorporating different items that Mrs. Prisbey found in the junk yard. There is a room, or section that is full of dolls heads, called the "dolls head shrine"

"These children aren't perfect. Far from it. But I lead them closer to the perfect vision of all parents."

Nestled between the ash-colored rock on the shore by the Pacific Ocean, there is a small house. Painted white, but the paint is chipping badly. The house must be nearly 50 years old, and the wooden planks that make up the siding are starting to warp from all of the salty sea air. An old woman in a blue flowered dress steps out onto the porch, and rings a bell. Children come running up from all directions. Some had been playing in the rocks, some had been down by the tide pools, a few had been near the water and one little boy was dripping wet and crying. It seems that two little girls had thrown seaweed at him and then pushed him into the surf. The old woman took the little boy's hand, took an old sailor's whistle out of her dress pocket and whistled on shrill blast. Seconds later a pretty young girl, probably only 16 years old stepped onto the porch. "yes, Miss Hannah?" The old woman looked pointedly at the sniveling child. "Oh. Yes, Miss Hannah!" She scooped up the child and carried him inside for a warm bath, dry clothes, and some cocoa. "Well, now that Anne has THAT taken care of, who pushed him?" Two little girls tiptoed to the front of the line, hands behind their backs and heads down, peeking up at Miss Hannah through their eyelashes. "Ladies, you know perfectly well that that is not allowed or tolerated. You shall have to do the dishes for the next week to make up for your lapse in judgement." One of the girls, a brunette with braided pigtails hanging halfway down her back, started speak, but quickly thought the better of it and shut her mouth. Miss Hannah glared at the girls through her spectacles. "Do we have an understanding?" "Yes, Miss Hannah," the girl's reply was perfectly in sync. "Very well, the rest of you get inside. We are having History in the Parlor this afternoon. Wash up and prepare for class."

The white house's front steps started creaking as 28 children climbed the stairs.

Utopian School: "Making school fun and not stressful is the out one and only goal." Homework would no longer be required to do. Students would give their own grades based on how hard they studied or worked on their tests or papers, and teachers give the actual grade they made on that assignment. The two grades would be averaged together to determine the students overall grade. Each week students would have the option of missing a day of school if they need to work on an assignment or if they feel that they do not need to come that day. Students who play sports or other activities that require them to travel during the school day would have the option of taking a test before they depart for school or a week after they comeback. "We just want to make school fun and stress free."

"My Utopian school would have naps and sports all day taught by the best athletes in the world."

My Utopian school starts at ten in the morning and ends at three in the afternoon. The week would be from Monday to Thursday. It would be an all girls school so the competition level would be about the same. The first class period, which would last two hours, would be your favorite sport that you would like to play. If your favorite sport was basketball your teachers would be Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Lebron James, and Candace Parker; if your favorite sport was swimming then your teacher would be Michael Phelps. The second class period is three hours and you would be watching all of the championship games/matches of your favorite sports. third you would have lunch, and you could go any where you wanted to if you have time. After lunch you would have nap/t.v time. The final class period of the day would be an hour long and you would have competitions between each other in your sport, and who ever wins would not be graded on what the learned for that week. All of the students would get along great and they would help each other out whenever it was needed. The school would have two swimming pools, two basketball courts, three indoor baseball/softball fields, two indoor tennis courts, two indoor volleyball courts, and 1 track and field event areas per event. Students would be graded on participation and be tested on what they learned from their coaches.

    Utopian School:
    "Feed your imagination and education"
The name would remain GPS(Girls Preparatory School). The school would not only prepare you for college, but also the many experiences you have in life. School would begin at 8am and end at 3:30pm. Every students schedule would contain at least four study halls a week. All of the teachers would have a positive outlook on life and strive to better the education of their students. Instead of telling a student they are not smart enough to get into an honors or AP class, the teacher should work with the student to help her achieve her goal. Students would vote on the lunch menu every week to ensure that everyone is please with the meal. The cafeteria would NEVER run out of food. The school would host speakers that the students actually have interest in. Twice a month, impact period would be a fun period. For instance, hosting celebrity artist like Justin Bieber or semi-educational field trips. Each grade would have their own lounge. The older students would care about the younger students and the younger students would respect the older students. The Student Center would except money. Mrs. Pierce would return as upper school principal, for she was loved and is greatly missed. There would be mandatory classes on home economics and substance abuse. Teachers and students would form long lasting relationships.

  9. Bottle Village: Bottle Village is an impressive example of the fact that people can truly create something that makes them happy with virtually nothing.

"If I'm going to be forced to do something, can I not at least do it my own way?"

Imagine a school where people are excited to get up and learn. If I were to create an Utopian school, I would make it a customizable experience. The building would be seven stories tall, as there would be a level for each academic group. Students would have one class at minimum on each level. The bottom level would be English, because without knowing your native language, it's almost impossible to learn anything. The second language would be math. This is because math occurs so much in society; it is inevitable. The third floor would be science, because it is important for people to know how things work if they ever wish to be productive in society. Ignorance is not bliss. The fourth level would be the history hall, because history shows us our mistakes, and where we went wrong with society. The fifth level would be the last academic level, because it would truly be the cherry on top of the sundae. This level would be the foreign language level. It's the top academic level because after learning everything academic in the native language, broadening your views internationally is the next best thing. The sixth, and final level is what gets the most sun during the day. It is the most prevalent level, and truly makes each individual student shine. Beyond academics, students would be required to take one extra-curricular activity throughout their years at the school. Each level would be filled with teachers' class rooms and the catch- no teacher has a roll book. Every student gets to choose daily which teacher they go to and learn from. They can choose to go to the same one every day, or go to multiple teachers every week. The way this system works is that students are on their honor (there is an honor system just like the current one) and their are no grades. There is one exam, and it's only five questions long.

"Ah, da da da da da daa, Im lovin' it. School life is great like frosted flakes.  "
The perfect school, how can it be described? Well, this school will have many days off without the thought of our Spring Break being taken away. It will be the school to rival ALL schools. The school where no one is scared of the new principal that loves to give out demerits for short skirts. At this school we don't even have to worry about uniforms and the rules that come with them. We can whatever we want, when we want, and how we want. But we do have to keep it appropriate and tasteful; we don’t want to upset our administration. For lunch, all upper school students would have the options of eating in the cafeteria or going off campus. Everyone with cars would be able to park up top and not worry about moving down below in the middle of winter. We would have random days in which we would chill all day and have fun. We would focus on community service and make sure that we give. All of our classes will be fun and interesting. Teachers would not be allowed to give us test on the same day and or week that other teachers have planned out tests. There would be random nap times in the middle of the day; the administration knows that we get tired and stressed. Of course we would have the biggest haters aka the Baylor Raiders. But we wouldn’t worry about them, with every smart comment they make we would hit them back with a “DAOW, sucks to go Baylor doesn’t it. You are now voted of the island”. Now this is the description of the perfect school.

  11. Bottle Village: It takes more than money to make something out of nothing, and look at the fun I have doing it, is such a great motto for not only having a city of bottles but also for life.
Oh my gosh! I get to go to school today! You may ask why I am so excited, but I love the school I go to and I look forward to it every day. One of my favorite parts is the dress code; every day is a different theme such as Indian day, preppy day, or goth day. If you dont get really into it, you get a pie smashed in your face! Students vote every morning about what boy and what girl should win the prize for best costume. The winners will then stand on different tables in the cafeteria at lunch for a wacky dance off to one of the top ten songs on iTunes! The school day starts at 9:30, but every boy and girl lives in the ocean side condos half mile off of campus. It allows us to wake up not super late, but not super early and also lets us stop at the Starbucks station on campus. The classes are each 35 minutes long, and everyone takes, instead of the regular academic classes that give us no use in life, we take real life courses, such as how to balance finances, public speaking, friendships, boys, and how to change a tire. Few homework assignments may be assigned but there are not any tests, quizzes or papers ever due. Students range from 10 to 18, boys and girls, completing all types of life courses, a minimum of 10 a school year. On the topic of grades, there wont be any during the school year, but by the end of the year, each student will be so knowledgeable in each life course that it would only make sense for the teacher to give each student an A. The outside of the school was plain white brick when it first opened up, but as each student walks through the gates of the entrance, the guard gives them a tube of paint of their choice to draw a flower on the brick at the start of every school day. Now the building is many different colored beautiful flowers and puts everyone in a good mood in the morning when they see it. Cell phones are allowed to be in the classroom when doing an assignment or reading, but just cant be used while the teacher is talking. No mad moods are allowed at this school from teachers or students, but who would want to be in one when you live and learn at this awesome place?

  12. Windmill Park: This backyard is a windmill extravaganza! It has a multitude of whirligigs in it and the man who did it all really understands the quote "One mans trash is another mans treasure."

A utopian school would be one of independence, but also structure. Having an environment that appeals to kids, making learning seem fun and intriguing to students, and letting every kid know that they can accomplish things without a teacher standing over their shoulder helping them step by step. The school should start later, making it appear to not be such a hassle to have to wake up in the morning, because honestly, no one likes to wake up when it's still dark outside. This would mean that school would get out later, which I think is a fair trade because your outlook on your day can be altered depending on how much sleep you get. Going to bed early does not suffice for having your alarm go off at 6:45. The rules would be simple enough that no one would want to rebel against them. Having school seem fun and exciting is key, outside events need to be spectacular and appealing to kids, not just lame ideas that adults seem to think as "fun". The schedule would be full of 1 hour classes, but then there would be a big free period where students can do whatever you want to do. Food available all day long, because there's a lot of people that get hungry, including myself, at random times of the day, be hungry isn't fun.

“A large castle emerges over a hill, glowing in the afternoon sun.”
My utopian school would be located inside a castle, old gray stonework with several turrets and secret passage ways. This castle would be equipped with the best technology. The teachers are experts on their subjects and have help periods in their free time and after school. Boys and girls from grades 5-12, and they would live in dormitories depending on their grade. That way they can get help from people in their classes for homework. Everybody would wear a uniform. The girls’ uniform would be a blue plaid skirt with a white, blue, pink, or yellow shirt, depending which day it was, while the boys’ uniform would be khaki pants with a white shirt and a blue pink or yellow tie, depending on the day. Everyone would take the same classes and each class would be exactly one hour long. The students would have one hour to eat and they would eat at assigned tables as to which grade they were in.

  14. Pasaquan: The trip that this man took to New York was very interesting since he dressed up as a drag queen and had homosexual experiences.
Utopian School: “Live everyday to the fullest and love what you do.” The perfect school, no one has heard of this until now. There would be no uniforms, but choosing what you would wear would not matter. You do not have to dress to impress anyone, its school! School would start at 8:30 and would end at 2:30. If we missed for snow days, no one would care and they would not be made up. Campus would be big and beautiful, but nothing over the top. If people wanted to come to this school, they could board on campus. Anyone, boys or girls, can attend this school. The schedule would be decided by the student body. Having a certain number of classes during a semester would not matter as long as you ended up with enough credits to graduate. People would learn by going to class, and getting their work done. Just because this school is perfect does not mean that you can skip class. Student would be graded, but there would be no tests. The grades will be determined by how much effort you put into things and occasional homework. It would be 6-12, but only 9-12 can board. The classes would have people from different grades in them so you can meet new people outside of your grade. Lunch would everyday at 12. The lunch room would be big enough that all grades can eat there. The lunch room would be like a food court so you can have a variety of things to choose from. This school would meet Tuesday thru Friday, but on Friday it would get out one class period early. This would be the perfect school, and if students did not like something then everyone would vote to change it. Therefore, everyone has a chance to get there way.

"A stress-free environment gives students the ability to learn with curiosity and excitement."
Learning would cease to be a stressful experience and instead would be enjoyable. Students would have the option of having their academic classes in the morning or in the afternoon according to when they think best. There would be study halls throughout the day in order to not have any homework by the end of school. Each student would have their own tutor specialized in every subject and at their disposal for any of their study halls. Grades in the class would be less dependent on test and quiz grades and more on effort, participation, and chipper attitudes. You would be allowed extra time on assignments if all of your study halls are focused on finishing the late assignment. Parents would only be informed of the positive results of the students work and if a student is doing poorly in a subject, the tutor will dedicate as much time as needed to catch the student up. If a student understands a concept very well, the homework is optional. Student can go home for lunch and a siesta. Classrooms have beanbags in place of chairs and snacks in every class for brain food.

There is a school of brick with a pond set up in front of the building. Fish of various colors swim around as students pass across a bridge to the front doors. Above two grand columns the words, “Wisemann School” are set up along the top of a cement block followed by, “Strong, wise, patient” on the tips of the columns. Students, grades sixth through twelfth, enter the black, double-doors and enter a hallway of black and red. This school is different though. With a four day week and a three day weekend, students stay at school until four each day and after school activities end around six. Students attend each class everyday during the week and the classes last for an hour. Each day begins at 7:45 and each student is required at least four study halls a week. There are seven classes in one day with a thirty minute lunch and twenty minute free period. All sports are offered at this school and uniforms are required. For girls, a black skirt with red or white button down shirts and for boys, black pants with the same shirt. Regular tests are taken here; however, if a student fails, they will receive another chance to do better before the grade is recorded by retaking the test. Once a week there is an optional cookout and the tuition is free. Obviously a co-education school, Wisemann School helps out any student who needs it. This school offers after-school tutoring for struggling students. Teachers are helpful and answer any question. Whether a school or a dream, everyone gets a chance.

"No longer Cheeseburger in Paradise - School in Paradise"
Picture looking outside your English class and seeing a sandy beach and ocean; well, this is now possible at Paradise Island. There is only a dress code that requires you to wear anything that is appropriate, no set uniforms of dresses or skirts. Bathing suits can be worn under clothes because during study halls and free times before and after lunch, you can go outside to tan. You will never be pasty pale again. Boys attend this school and there is no drama because everyone likes each other and gets along without any conflicts. No more worrying about you stealing someone's man and them getting mad about it. There are outdoor classes taught on the beach for those who want it, and if you do not enjoy the sun and beach, you can take your classes indoors where the air conditioning is blasting. Only at Paradise Island is there no more worrying about grades - that's right, you only get A's and B's. Here, you are graded based on completion and doing the work that is assigned. You get an A as long as your answers make sense and are relative to the topic that is being studied. You will receive a B if the answers don't make sense and have nothing to do with the topic - the lowest grade you can make is a B. Because of this, no one will want to make a B because it will be easy to get an A. There is minimal homework and each person has at least one study hall a day to complete the assignments. Anyone can attend this school and each week school is only in session Tuesday - Thursday. School starts at 9 each day and goes until 2. Sports and other activities take place starting at 2:30. There is night life for those who want to attend with social events such as dances. Every day is fun and educational here at Paradise Island!

  18. The Forevertron: Tom Every not only created his perfect "junk ship," but also he created an alter ego, his "utopian person."

Motto: "Stress and competition is not the object, the object is to create a bright, enjoyable 'unranked' environment."

The school day would last from 10 am to 3pm day, with 2 major classes and 3 minor classes. Students would not be forced to struggle in a class they did not understand. The two major classes would be each students best or favorite subjects. The three minor classes would consist of "core" subjects, however, these classes would not be as emphasized as the major classes. This allows each student to succeed based upon their strengths.
Everything would be bright and colorful. No dull shades of blue, but rather, pinks, greens, blues, yellows, oranges, purple. Bright colors and energy make learning more fun! There would be uniforms, but not plaid skirts and collared shirts. Uniforms would be appealing to the students.
This school would co-ed, but individual classes would be single gender. This allows each gender to learn in the way best suited for them, without feeling like they are completely secluded from members of the opposite gender.
Grades and percentages would not exist. Giving grades makes learning a contest. Tests would not need to be graded because.
There would be no grade levels; they create unnecessary seclusion. Students would be placed in classes based on personal ability.
As far as assignments go, they would not be long and strenuous, but short and take no longer than one hour. This takes away the stress of completing long term assignments.

  19. Bottle Village: By Tressa Prisbrey creating the Bottle Village, it completely embodies that old cliché, "One man's trash, is another man's treasure."

"Independent thinking might be the key to one culmination of thinking."

What would it be like to be excited about going to a place every day that you are legally obliged to go to? A Utopia school would be one that goes from 10:00 to 2:30. There should be no homework. Schools these days get too caught up in making students spend specific amounts of time on each class a night, but instead they need to suggest ways that they can study every night so that the end result is that you learn just as much as you normally would, but not as much busy work takes up so much time. Maybe a certain amount of days is necessary to complete a grade and the student can come in as much as needed to complete the course. This is extremely unrealistic, considering that each student would be at different levels and the teacher would have to teach every student independently, but it would give the student something to work for. Exams should definitely not be required, if students work all year to maintain a good grade an exam should not tear her down. School should be fun and exciting and with these adjustments it can be!

The perfect, Utopian school would be in session from Monday through Friday starting at 8
and lasting until 2:30. It has to be this way because it already accepted in world. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are already known as the weekends. It would throw everything off to change the routine of school.
The name? Let's stick with Girls Preparatory School. All of the student that are here will not be attending though. It's still all girls, but only the best of the best will be accepted into this school. You don't have to worry about grades once you get in though. If it's obvious that you're not trying you will be asked to change schools; however, if you're lucky enough to graduate from GPS all universities will want you. It's not a matter of which college you will get into, it's which college will you choose since you can get into any one easily.
The perfect college counselors can be found at GPS- no matter if you're an athlete looking for a division one scholarship or the valedictorian seeking acceptance to Harvard. They can guarantee you will get in.
It will focus more on the sciences and technology rather than English and History. That's what the world is turning to nowadays. The daily schedule would rotate just as it does now.
The same uniforms will be worn, but length won't be important. Boys aren't here and we don't care if we see the shorts underneath your skirt or dress.

  21. Paradise Garden: Howard Vinster created a solution to the lack of appeal in learning and remembering the Bible’s messages.

“A compromise between imagination and reality.”
What if there was a perfect school? A school where no one dreaded waking up too early, balancing their scholarly and personal lives, unfair teachers, or failing their next test? This is my idea to make GPS fit these descriptions. School would start each day at nine. It would not have an extremely large or shockingly small student body, but instead one where each student feels that they are capable of knowing each faculty member and forming a relationship with them outside the classroom. Girls would not be required to wear a uniform, but all clothing must remain appropriate. If a student fails a test, or the teacher feels like they made an unsatisfactory grade, they could work with their teacher to come to an understanding of the subject and retest in hopes attaining a better grade the second time. We would only attend school four days of the week, with Friday being a day to schedule meetings with teachers in order to get extra help in any lessons learned that week. Each round of semester exams would be optional, so to reward the girls who work hard to maintain their grades year round. School would not be focused solely on academics, but would also offer classes that prepare us for the experiences outside the classroom. The school would continue to have speakers during the school year, but students would have a say on the compiled list. This would be to reduce the number of students who dread impact period each week. In previous years we have had various bands and artists come for us. I think we should have more artists come because those were fun experiences that really bring our student body together

  22. You approach enormous gold gates that have the initials B, W, Y, and D written in Disney font that stands for “Be What You Dream”. They slowly open and you see a mini world. It is by the ocean where people can go and learn from esteemed marine experts about “water life”, scuba diving, or deep-sea fishing. On the other side is a jungle where you can go exploring and go on a Safari trip where you learn about different types of animals or plants. On the backside of the campus, there is a desert where you can ride camels and have bonfires where you share your stories and adventures from that week (everyone must congregate here every Friday.) In the Front middle there is a city like atmosphere with small and huge business, apartments, and malls where you can become an intern under big-time business men and women. The back middle is where there is a small country sub-urb where some of the families live. There is also a huge telescope and space center so you can study the sky with workers from NASA. The beauty of the school is that you can change your mind and do what you enjoy while learning from people that have had years of experience.

  23. Response to Palais Ideal: I find it amazing that this structure was built out of stones and concrete. And the amount of patience he had for this project, because it took many years.
The School of Harmony and Intellectuality:
The school of Harmony and Intellectuality (SHI) is a school for boys and girls. At this school there are limited rules, because in the real world there are only rules of parents and law. The school’s main objective is to teach its students to appreciate the world they live in and to learn from it. Instead of sitting in classrooms students go outside, where it is serene and natural. The school is a 2 story castle with 7 classrooms, one lunch room where students may come and go as they please, and a place to relax where students can do whatever they want. The second floor of the school is all outdoors so that the students can connect with nature as they learn. There is a pond containing fish and many trees, so the school has a green roof where they take many of their classes. The homework is optional so if the students want they can study on their own. In the cafeteria, there are many different healthy options and a huge desert and candy bar. All of the food for the day will be cooked or made fresh that morning and there will be plenty of it so there is enough for everyone. The school will also be very laidback and fun, there will be no textbooks for students; they should only take notes from the teachers knowledge. There will only be tests to test knowledge, not to grade for failure or success. It will fit everyone’s needs with all sports, fine arts, and computer sciences. This school is a utopia for all students to learn and to be relaxed so that the student will not be stressed and will enjoy learning.

    My Utopian School:
There are large brick buildings lining the long winding roads through the campus. At the front, there are athletic fields, tennis courts, and the nation’s largest swimming pool. You are greeted by a security guard every morning as you arrive and every afternoon when you depart. Class begins promptly at 8:33 and ends around 2:58. Students are allowed to pick their own schedules, as long as they have math, science, English, and language classes. Fine arts and computer classes are optional. There will be no progress grades, just quarter and semester grades. The teachers come to the students, except for science courses, instead of the students walking up and down the hilly campus to each class. Science courses will be held in the science building. Homework will be optional, but teachers strongly suggest that you complete everything by the end of the week. Exams will also be optional and if taken, will only count if they help students’ grades. Sports practice will be held in the afternoon.
Parking spaces for high schoolers will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. For lunch, all sophomores, juniors, and seniors are allowed to leave campus to eat with friends. The menu for the freshmen will be chosen the previous week by the freshmen class officers, along with help from Chef Tom. There will be two cafeterias: one for the middle school and one for the high school. This way the high schoolers will not have to wait for the middle schoolers to finish eating lunch. Phones are allowed in the school buildings walking to and from classes and outside. Students are allowed to carry their phones on their person, but they must be on silent or vibrate. Student events coordinated with McCallie will be run by students. No teachers will be allowed at dances and other events. Boys from other schools are allowed to eat with high school students with permission from the high school secretary or principal. Uniform rules will not be so strictly forced and warnings will be given for minor offenses. In Saturday school, students will be allowed to do their homework instead of writing essays. This school will allow the students to be independent in their school work and also have fun with friends.

Welcome to USBG! This school is made entirely out of grape cotton candy. The teachers welcome you to class with any flavor juicy juice and a hug. When the actual learning begins the teachers set assignments and the students work on them during class. If a student has a question or problem, the teacher is ready to help.
